MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • Piazza Grande, the most stunning square in Arezzo, is encircled by magnificent ancient buildings and hosts the Giostra del Saracino twice annually. • Churches. The Arezzo Cathedral (Duomo), the Church of San Francesco, the Church of Santa Maria della Pieve, and the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. • Museums. You can visit the Museo del Duomo, the Museo Archeologico "Gaio Cilnio Mecenate", the Museo Statale d'Arte Medievale e Moderna, and the House-Museum of Ivan Bruschi. Additionally, there are La Casa Petrarca or La Vita è Bella, which hold cultural significance in the city.

Despite its industrial focus, the city also attracts tourists due to its rich history and unique experiences it offers. Originally, Livorno started as a small fishing village. However, it held great significance for the Medici family due to its strategic location, and they declared the port a free port from 1590 until 1860. This allowed the city to flourish. However, much of this development was lost during the Second World War when the city suffered extensive damage, particularly to its historic Cathedral and synagogue.

The baptistery, cathedral, Leaning Tower, and Camposanto stand out like carved ivory, emerging from a wide expanse of bright green grass. The cathedral houses Giovanni Pisano's masterful pulpit, with its intensely dramatic Gothic reliefs. You can make your unsteady way to the top of the Torre Pendente, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, from which local resident Galileo Galilei dropped various objects in his quest to understand gravity. Education has driven the local economy since the 1400s, and students from all over Italy still compete for spots in its prestigious university and research schools and help maintain a lively and affordable cafe and bar scene. This metropolis of a hundred thousand residents is much more than a tower; it's a city rich in art and history.

Its extensive history dates back to the times of the Etruscans and Ancient Romans, and the city still maintains elements of Ancient architecture. Lucca's golden age was during the Gothic period, just before the Renaissance, and the city is home to many stunning pieces of architecture from that time. The existing defensive walls of Lucca were designed by Leonardo Da Vinci and have never been breached. Lucca remained a sovereign city-state until the late 18th century. The church of San Frediano is the only example of Lombard architecture that has been preserved without significant changes, except for the façade, which dates back to the year 1200. S. Maria foris Portam, S. Michele, S. Romano, and the other churches all house valuable works of art. The tomb of the Lucchese poet, Guidiccioni, is located in the church of S. Francesco (quattrocento). The Case Guinigi and the Guinigi Tower are wonderful examples of Medieval architecture in Lucca. The Case Guinigi were a collection of mansions and towers where one of the city's most influential families, the Guinigi, resided. The vast and well-preserved villas and gardens in the hills of Lucca have become a major attraction for visitors to the city.
