Lecco, Italy

Lecco Italy

Lecco is a city located in Lombardy, in the northern part of Italy, situated north of Milan, and serves as the capital of the province of Lecco. It is positioned at the end of the southeastern branch of Lake Como. The Bergamo Alps can be seen rising to the north and east. The lake narrows to form the river Adda, and bridges have been constructed to enhance road communications with Como and Milan. There are four bridges that cross the river Adda in Lecco: the Azzone Visconti Bridge (1336–1338), the Kennedy Bridge (1956), the Alessandro Manzoni Bridge (1985), and a railroad bridge. The Province of Lecco is made up of ancient villages and scenic landscapes. The Lariana Abbey, along with its grassy shores, is home to the captivating Silk Museum. The Church of San Giorgio in Mandello del Lario is exceptional and serves as a significant art gallery from the Medieval period. The Guzzi Moto Museum in Mandello tells the story of this locally-produced motorcycle. The Abbey is a must-visit, as are the Fuentes and Montecchio Forts, which highlight the significant military strategic importance of the area.
