Fuenlabrada is a municipality in the autonomous community of Madrid in central Spain. It lies to the south of Madrid city at an average altitude of around 700 metres above sea level. The town has a high population density and is part of the wider Madrid metropolitan area. The climate in Fuenlabrada is Mediterranean-continental, with hot, dry summers and cold winters, and marked temperature differences between seasons. Several secondary schools in Fuenlabrada take part in international school exchange programmes, strengthening educational and cultural links with other European towns and with communities in the United States.
