Day 1
sao paulo (santos), brazil
Departure: 14:00
São Paulo is a place of great contrast, a melting pot of cultures, both cultural and ethnic. This fascinating metropolis is the financial powerhouse of Brazil and the largest city in South America, boasting a vibrant nightlife, top-tier gastronomy, theatres, shops and everything you can imagine. This large, modern city is home to art galleries, affluent and impressive museums, world-class music venues, and the best restaurants in the country. Walking along Avenida Paulista, the financial centre of São Paulo, you will see many modern buildings, as well as Art Nouveau and Art Deco mansions and some of the city's main cultural attractions, such as Casa das Rosas, Trianon Park or the Museu de Arte de São Paulo. Nearby, there is Praça da Sé, in the heart of the city. The Catedral da Sé dominates this beautiful square. Other highlights of São Paulo's city centre include the Pátio do Colégio, the site where the city was founded, the Monastery of São Bento, the Banespa Building, the Martinelli Building (Brazil's first skyscraper), the Itália building, the Viaduct do Chá, the Municipal Theatre, the Sala São Paulo concert hall, the Luz Train Station, and the Municipal Market. Although there are plenty of stunning city parks; Parque do Ibirapuera is undoubtedly the most famous park in the city, hosting several museums, monuments and cultural activities. Cosmopolitan and full of life, São Paulo is a sea of possibilities.

Day 8
mindelo, cape verde
Arrival: 11:00 - Departure: 20:00
Mindelo is a port city in the northern part of the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde. Mindelo has preserved its status as the cultural centre of the Cape Verdean archipelago. A visit to the old town, which is situated directly on the ocean and in front of the impressive panorama of the Cara Mountain, is obligatory and in the southwest of the island, windsurfers will find excellent wind conditions on the beach of the quiet little town of São Pedro. São Vicente is a culturally fertile island. It's the cultural capital of Cape Verde and its nightlife is famous for its lively bars with live music, which, for example, began the career of Cesaria Evora. Besides music, theatre also holds an important place in the cultural offerings of São Vicente. Enjoy the cuisine of the island. They have many dishes, mostly based on seafood. Besides the famous "cachupa", the "seafood giblets rice Dadal" and "stew barnacles" are also prominent. The culture of São Vicente also excels in other areas such as the arts, especially painting and crafts.

Day 13
tangier, morocco
Arrival: 11:00 - Departure: 21:00
Tangier is the street corner where Europe meets Africa; where the Atlantic washes into the Mediterranean and where an intersection of Islam and Christendom comes together. Tangier, known as the gateway to the African continent, looks across at Europe from the shores of Atlantic and Mediterranean alike. At this important crossroads of civilization, Tangier has a magnificent, scenic bay that flaunts below its lush green hills and ancient avenues. As a meeting-point of trading and commerce routes to so many different destinations, Tangier has been indelibly marked by history with its sovereignty often in dispute. As any hustler will tell you, the Medina, old town, is Tangier’s most interesting sight. Tangier’s medina is a maze of narrow streets on the hillside above the harbour. Rue es-Siaghin leads downhill from the Grand Socco to the Petit Socco; side streets to the right are filled with shops. The main street of medina leads to Kasbah, the former Sultan's palace and the highest point in the medina. It provides excellent views of the ocean and the city. The gate opens onto a large courtyard, which leads to the Dar el-Makhzem Palace and the modern-day Kasbah Museum. The palace was built in the 17th century and enlarged by each reigning sultan. The carved wooden ceilings and marble courtyard showcase the intricacies of Moroccan craft-work. Tangier's Ville Nouvelle is a must for fans of late 19th and early 20th century architecture as it features many fine buildings from this time period. Here you'll find the Terrasse des Paresseux where you can look out at the spectacular ocean view that has captivated so many European artists. With the harbour before you, look across the water for the hazy silhouettes of Gibraltar and southern Spain in the distance Tangier does not leave you indifferent, you hate it or you love it, there is no middle feelings on it, you promise not to go back again or you get addicted to it. But if you stay there and try to acclimatise to its rhythm you will fall in love with its beauty. However, one thing is for sure, Tangier is one of the most vibrant cities in Morocco.

Civitavecchia (Rome), italy
Arrival: 07:00 - Departure: 18:00
Modern and old, past and present go hand in hand, all the time. Whether you're in Rome for 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months, be ready to step into the world’s largest open air museum. Rome will charm you and it will hardly leave you unmoved. It will surprise you, as it has so much to offer to any visitor, and its beauty has merely been slightly obscured by the passage of time. Rome is one of the world's most photogenic cities - not surprising when you remember what's here - The Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, St Peter's Square, Spanish Steps, Colosseum... Whether you spend your time sightseeing, or lounging in cafés watching the world go by, it will be your turn to star in your very own Roman Holiday. If you can plan to stay for as long as a week, you won't run out of things to do and you'll still feel like you're leaving too soon.

Day 18
messina, italy
Arrival: 13:00 - Departure: 21:00
Messina is located in the northeast of Sicily, Italy. It's only a 5 km journey across the Straits of Messina to the region of Calabria on the mainland. It's the third largest city on the island of Sicily. Trips by land and sea allow for the exploration of every nook and cranny of the Aeolian Islands, abundant with beaches and small coves where one can pause to explore, even if just for a few hours. The active volcano, Mt. Etna, towers over the landscape and reveals a vegetation interrupted by trails of black, solidified lava flows. Caves and varying environments alternate along its slopes; traverse them to reach the peak, where a large "mouth of fire" awaits. A definite must-see is Pollara Beach on the island of Salina; Pollara was created by a crater formed by the six volcanoes that make up Salina, around 13,000 years ago. The Ancient Theatre, one of the greatest of the Greek-Roman era, is nestled in a spread of olive, orange and almond groves that fill the air with their exotic scents.

Day 19
valletta, malta
Arrival: 09:00 - Departure: 18:00
The wee capital of Malta, the city is less than 1 sq km in size, but has loads to offer visitors. Valletta is known as one of the most densely packed historic areas in the world, with its 7,000 years of history. It's no surprise then, that the City of Valletta was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980. Built by the knights of St John in the 16th and 17th centuries for military and strategic reasons, Valletta was later spruced up into a fine example of baroque decorative art – most notably in the magnificent interiors of St John’s Co-Cathedral in the heart of the city. Shady atmospheric alleyways link grand squares, and grand palazzi sit alongside pubs and shops. Recently, the city has seen some major changes to create a more vibrant urbanity, with the renovation of the main City Gate and the design of a new parliament building, as well as the renovation of the bombed-out Opera House. Valletta's natural deep water port, the Grand Harbour, is the biggest and the most impressive harbour in all the Mediterranean and was, for many thousands of years, the epicentre of Malta’s maritime activity. Evidence of this are the 19 historical warehouses still standing dating back 250 years and the historic Quay Wall, where the Knights of St John and European merchants used to unload their goods. The Valletta Waterfront is also the gateway to Malta’s capital city. In fact, as one of the most successful Mediterranean ports, the Port of Valletta welcomes more than half-a-million cruise passengers into this open air museum. Recently, the waterfront has been revitalised into an attractive and vibrant gateway of shops, pubs and restaurants. It’s particularly romantic at night when lit up. There are loads of outdoor pursuits to enjoy thanks to the city’s moderate climate. From diving to sailing, cycling to rock climbing, there are a number of different adrenalin-busting options to satisfy adventurous holidaymakers. Just don't expect Valletta to be buzzing all night, its tranquility is a large part of its charm.

venice, italy
Day 22
venice, italy
Arrival: 08:00
Perhaps no city is as fabulous as Venice, a metropolis built upon stilts, a maze perched over a lagoon. Venice has been dubbed the parlour of Europe, and indeed for centuries the city was a haven for ideas and idealists, a crossroads of the Byzantine and Roman worlds. Today Venice is a different kind of parlour. Wealthy visitors scramble into gondolas to gawk at the Byzantine palaces while being serenaded by accordionists and art lovers strain for a glimpse of Renaissance masterpieces. No monument is as memorable as the city itself, so use the major sights only as an excuse for wandering. Venice revolves around Piazza San Marco. The best feature of the mosaic-covered Basilica di San Marco is the Pala D’Oro, a glittering gold Byzantine bas-relief. The Torre dell’Orologio, to the left of San Marco, is a beautifully adorned clock tower. For culture enthusiasts, check the Accademia for the best of Venetian paintings. Some say that the tourist Venice is indeed Venice, but there are other Venices as well. To find them, wander away from the major sights and into the quieter outlying residential areas, you won’t be disappointed, this labyrinth of stone and colour radiates enchantment from every brick.
